The approach to Albuquerque was not like I expected it to be. It was a mountain pass upon which a storm had set hold, lightning flashing among the peaks. Very cool.
I knew New Mexico as soon as it approached, 300 miles ago, the sage-brush and crimson soil heralding a land not Texas. I knew, also, that I would enjoy my travels through that land, from the generous speed limit to the intriguing clouds and equally fascinating landscape they seemed to embrace as brother.
Looney Tunes aficionados will appreciate it being pointed out that I did not, in fact, make a wrong turn at Albuquerque... however, getting back on the interstate was somewhat "fun."
