Chicago Gold Cup Road Trip: Day Two, Mexico vs Guadaloupe

A tense game, 0-0 all the way up to the 72nd minute, and suddenly Mexico got its goal. The stadium erupted (and Coke flew wildly all over Chesher and I from some mysterious source). Its looking like we'll get our wish of a US vs Mexico showdown after all!

The stadium is really packed too, more so than for the US game. Its a sea of green, white, and orange swallowing us few spots of red, white, and blue. The official attendace was just announced, at a respectable 50,790.

Sunday should be quite interesting!

Post-game tailgating with other US fans commences.

  1. Now, I am starting to get worried about the four of you and those enormous hats ~ just hope your tickets are not in the middle of a bunch of fans of Mexico...

Behave yourselves ~ OK, I know that is impossible ~ so watch your backs.

  2. We lucked out and got four seats together (they claimed they were only selling single seats) at the edge of the upper deck. We'll probably be outnumbered of course, but so far the fans have been pretty cool, Mexico or otherwise. Sunday might be a different story, sure, but I think we'll be all right :-)
