Wow, that was a violent storm that just moved through our area. I woke up with a start at 2AM thinking a tornado was about to hit, lightning flashing almost every second and the gales of wind wailing loud enough to wake the dead (and the merely brain-dead apparently). I peeked outside in the middle of the craziness, couldn't see three feet past all the rain blowing but the sky seemed like it was a permanent sheet of lightning, and it looked as if a tropical storm had hit. MAN, I wish I'd taken a picture, but kind of the last thing on my mind at the time.... Here's a link to news coverage of the Hurricane in the Midwest (as I call it). 70-80MPH winds, and 2-inch hailstones in some spots! My own home and car survived just fine, all I saw in the aftermath that morning was a downed tree limb in the backyard, but as I drove in to the office, I discovered the QuikTrip near my place had its roof ripped off! Several other areas got it much worse, so I hear. Crazy weather these days.
Photos of the aftermath caught by my camera on the way home, around 2PM the next day:
